What to Expect in Test Realm

collage2

Starting in November, we began to receive teasers for the coming Pirate101 updates. Some have been resolved (or thought to be) instantly, but others have puzzled us for weeks. If you’re bored right now and are not sure what to do before test realm is released, read What to Do While Waiting for Test Realm.

The hype has been up for a while, but will it pay off? What should we expect in the test realm?

Side Content: Barmy

collageb

The teaser to the left is the oldest one, and Bonnie Anne is saying, “The Ancient Ones aren’t the only ones who’ve gone. He’s gone . . . gone completely barmy, Captain!”

From Wizard101’s Azteca, mostly, we have ascertained that The Ancient Ones could be referring to the Aztecans who live(d) in Skull Island. This could be part of a side quest line either as a lower level “side world” or to unlock something. The chest on the right picture could just be a goal where you have to open it with two keys.

Side Content: Class Companions

collagec

Both of these teasers are in class areas (Witchdoctor, Musketeer), and look like they could be companions especially considering Carcarius Grimtooth’s line of “Hola, tiny Captain! I seek passage with you!”

These could or could not be related to the Barmy quest line but are fairly certain to be rewarded as companions. I’m interested to see how we will recruit them and what the other classes’ companions will be!

Function: Ship PvP and Ranked PvP

pvp

These functions have been highly requested to the game, and judging by the developers’ comments on these requests, they are coming at some point.

This areas is Aquila-themed, and Greeks/Romans did lots of dueling, so this would make sense. I think this will be for Ship PvP and there will be a different PvP house for ranked or a kiosk.

Function: Location Marking

markymark

In Wizard101, location marking came with teleportation. Right now, if you use your shortcut back to Skull Island button, it leaves a mark so you can return, but I think now the marks will stay without you having to teleport to Skull Island/stay in the areas around Avery’s Court.

This hint is also pretty obvious because it is next to the NPC “Marquis Mark.”

Storyline/Main Content: Valencia Expansion

collagev

The end of Aquila made it fairly obvious that our next trip will be to Valencia. I believe, though, that the levels may only be increased by 5 and there will only be one book, since the Pirate101 team had to work on all the other items in this update. (See above)

Even if our trip isn’t very long (or we haven’t left yet at the end of the book), I’m looking forward to seeing more of the Armada. These images have been on the Pirate101 website since release, but we still have yet to see the town, so I’m excited!

Dueling Diego: The Start of Pirate101 Prizes

Earlier this week, Pirate101 posted on their Twitter account, announcing the release of Pirate101 Prizes on their gaming website, “FreeKIGames.”

Dueling Diego was previously a Wizard101 game, but now it has switched genres. What does this mean for Pirate101?

Dueling Diego

Dueling Diego is a cartoony game with easy to learn controls. It progressively gets harder and you win a prize based on your score. You have three lives and have to jump over barrels and fight various types of monsters. Prizes are based in a tier-ranked system, but it is currently unknown exactly how tiers are determined. When you complete a game, if your score is high enough, a valid Pirate101 game code and a “Redeem Code” link will appear below your score. Click it, and you will be taken to the Pirate101 website to redeem your code!

PART I: THE GAME & GUIDE

There are four levels in Dueling Diego.

DuelingDiego1

On level 1, your enemies will consist of Blood Bats and Gobblers. It has an abundance of obstacles (barrels) and has a 5-heart Gobbler Pirate boss at the end. Think you can take it on?

Blood Bat

1 health, 100 points. Must hit at same level as blood bat.

Gobbler
3 health, 80 points. Hit the Gobbler before he hits you!

Gobbler Pirate

5 health, 1000 points. Must hit quickly after he raises his sword.

DuelingDiego2

After you’ve left the ship’s hold, there are still barrels rolling around, and you encounter some new enemies. Fight the Fire Elves and the Shield Gobblers to get to the next Gobbler Pirate.

Fire Elf

1 health, 120 points. Jump over his arrows until you can get close enough to hit him with a low attack.

Gobbler (shield)

3 health, 150 points. When you see him, remember where his shield is. Hit that area when you get to him, then switch the place you hit, then switch again.

Gobbler Pirate

See above.

DuelingDiego3

You’ve  swam to the shore of Skull Island, but the natives are acting strangely. Get ready to meet 3 new enemies!

Fire Elf

See above. (120 points)

Nose Goblin

3 health, 200 points. Similar to Fire Elf, just be more cautious of the spears. You can hit with any attack.

Snake

3 health, 200 points. Hit it with the low attack with the right timing, and you won’t be hurt.

Nose Goblin Shaman

5 health, 1000 points. Like a Nose Goblin with more health, and can dodge (move away from) your attacks.

Hint: Once you defeat the Nose Goblin Shaman, don’t go into the cave right away. Stay outside and wait until you have 3 hearts restored.

DuelingDiego4

You’ve cleared the shore, but behind the shaman was a mysterious cave. Francesca is probably in there!

Snake

See above.

Ghoul

4 health, 500 points. Watch out, the ghouls move very fast and can hit you unexpectedly.

Blood Bat (cave)

1 health, 200 points. See above, but moves significantly faster.

Skeleton

3 health, 600 points. Pretty much like the Fire Elf, but you can hit him with any attack. Relatively easy approach- jump over two projectiles he throws then strike. (Repeat, but only jump over one)

Roberto

Unknown health (appears as 1,) 2000 points. He will not be affected by your attacks. Dodge his attacks and let a spike fall on his head.

Falling Stalactite

Watch out for these on the ceiling. They hurt!

PART II: ANALYSIS

Wizard101 has had online minigames (and an app!) for quite a while, starting with KI Free Games and moving to FreeKI Games this October. Doodle Dug, Dueling Diego, and Sorcery Stones started the online code-giving minigame sequence, with WizardBlox, a game like Sorcery Stones, as a mobile app. Later, a revolutionary idea (especially in Wizard101) was released as an app and minigame on KI Free Games which many players joined in. You could train your in-game pets while not having to do tedious, repetitive training games, or while not at the computer! Dueling Diego is a step in the right direction, and would be even more amazing if it were released as an app.

Apps

We may see other popular minigames from Pirate101 launched onto FreeKIGames.com such as Pirate’s Pub or Windjammer, because so far Dueling Diego is a hit.

Dueling Diego gives unique prizes, some that have never been seen before. So far we know you can get furniture, ship equipment, training tomes, or rental mounts.

Items1

From left to right: Small Candle, 2x Pineapple Jug, Wicker Basket, Monkey King Piece, Armor Media

So this means that we may be getting even more new equipment with the coming updates to Pirate101! Test Realm should be coming out soon- we never know what we’ll get!

Next Hint!

Pirate101 has released their next hint to upcoming updates!

111

This reminds me of one that was posted way back in November…

111

I am thinking they will be new class companions. They look like they are both there for the same reason and Carcarius Grimtooth is saying, “…I seek passage with you!”

If you’re looking for the rest of the teaser images, I have two posts here and here on those.

Completely Barmy: Locked Chest

I’m back from the holidays and ready for more Pirate101! Recently, the January newsletter was released and it has another hint towards content! This one also talks about things being “completely barmy,” but is also completely different. If you don’t know what I’m talking about check out my other post here.

barmy2

I am thinking this will be a “side update” with the new big Valencia expansion that everyone is talking about and is being confirmed subtly. It may be a new loot system, side quest line, item locking, or something all new! (Hoping for the last one!)

Also, to see the rest of the January newsletter, go here.

All of the New Pirate101 Ships!

If you already haven’t heard about this, there are 5 new ships that you can get for Pirate101! They include the elusive blue ship which has now been named Sapphire which has sails that, for some reason, are reminding me of Polaris.

How can you get these new ships?

Read more on the Pirate101 website about these AMD product ships which you get “for free” with an AMD graphics card if it fits one of the categories! Check out http://www.home.p101/free_game/amd_ships for more!

Looking to upgrade your computer for less lag in the skyways? Now is the time so you can get a new ship!

Be sure you know that…

These ships all have the same stats

They are arranged in 6 level tiers with the highest being at level 65

What is special about these ships is their unique looks, sails, and figureheads.

All ship components can be upgraded, like other ships.

These ships cannot equip armor, so instead it is built into the stats.

The “Origin” or class of a ship matches the type of graphics card you redeemed- TUL, Visiontek, Club 3D, Diamond, or Sapphire.

Note that these ships are in no way required to advance in the game and that no one is making you pay for a new graphics card. This is just an extra reward if you decide to.

These ships come with only a Figurehead, Sails, Rudder, and a Horn.

If you are going to buy one of these and want to make sure you get the ship, read the specific offer to make sure your purchase matches the requirements for eligibility for the code.

Hope for Halloween + Big World News

Wizard101’s Halloween is here with all new quests, NPCs, dungeons, pets, and an updated pack. Pirate101 is still silent but at least there is hope for it this year. On the message boards, One-Eyed Jack pointed us towards the October Newsletter.

October is sure to be another great month for *at least* two great reasons: 1- It’s our first birthday! 2- Halloween! (Notice that the words *at least* are italicized . . . that’s fancy talk for we may have a surprise or two this month!)

That is getting me excited! 🙂 Lots of spoilers!

I updated my blog with a Halloween theme for this holiday and I’m hoping for another update here with some pictures from Pirate101 Halloween!

I’m thinking that it will be a cool Pirate101 spin on the Wizard101 halloween with a vendor that sells items but it has things like the Pirate Pumpkin Staff or things already in the game like the Bone Daggers. When I mean the Wizard101 halloween I mean Skull Island decorated with pumpkins everywhere and by the shops.

(NPC) Spooky Bob.png

This is Spooky Bob from Wizard101 and I think we can also be expecting similar gear that looks more Piratey. And even if we don’t, we can dress up as pirates for halloween!

There are also several pumpkin hats that we can wear, and we will get the pirate one for sure! 🙂

Comment with your ideas for a Pirate halloween!

EDIT: Here is even MORE Pirate101 news with lots of world hints! (I really need to finish MooShu at least…)

Blind Mew is back answering questions!
  • Will we ever be going to Rajah, Krokotopia, or Darkmoor in the El Dorado storyline? Yes on two of those. Which two? You can no doubt predict my answer.
  • Last in Aquila, we don’t know who our parents are anymore. Will this ever come back to mind in the game and will we ever remember them? “Yup on one, maybe on two.
  • Can you give us a one-letter hint as to the name of the next skyway like you did with the Book 13 update? “C (in this case, not for cookie, but still good enough for me).
  • Are there going to be any two-world, one book updates in the future, like Book 4? “Most Books will only cover one world, for budgetary reasons. Book 18, though, that’s gonna be a doozy…
  • Are there going to be any more fantasy-heavy worlds like Aquila? I can imagine Darkmoor and El Dorado fitting that category though….”I don’t think we’ll ever have another realm as fantastical as Aquila. Darkmoor will have some elements that are pretty out there, but with a different flavor. It’ll still be fairly grounded. And El Dorado? I’m hoping to go in a very new direction there.”
  • …we went through the Stormgate from Monquista to Aquila, not through Valencia, so it hasn’t been used. I was wondering if that might be the way we could sneak in back to Valencia. “The pirate’s path back into Valencia will be very… interesting.”
  • Presidio Companion: I have been wondering for a while, why don’t we just have a sit down with our presidio companion and ask them about our parents? It seems like we have a database of our past that we are just prolonging to delve into. This would especially be useful considering the first 5 years memory wipe. “Good point. It’s a perfect thing to do. Seems to me their next promotion quest would be the perfect time to do that.”
  • Here is another answer… “…Grizzleheim Vikings (an anachronism, sure, but a huge part of Wizard and simply irresistible)… Admittedly, we haven’t seen much of Griz yet. That’s partly oversight on my part, and partly how the Spiral is laid out – Grizzleheim and Skull Island are pretty much on the opposite edges of the Spiral. But we’ll be getting our first taste of Grizzleheim before too long.”
