Tradewinds Tribune- November Edition
Now that November’s over, we’re getting ready for the holiday season! Here’s a peek at everything that happened this month in Pirate101.
At the beginning of the month, on November 2nd, the Pirate101 monthly newsletter started! Speaking of the newsletter, there’s a new edition, you can go check it out here!
About a week after that, November 8th, the Boochbeard Bundle (crowns and subscription) left the Spiral forever! All of the items will never again appear on the Pirate101 market.
On November 9th, Veteran’s Day, KingsIsle gave out a very special medal display case to honor those who have served the country. Pirate101 Fan Art was also updated with all new submissions!

On the week of the 12th – 17th, Pirate101’s staff updated a lot of their fan material, such as Fan Fiction, Fan Photos, and much more! Check out the Fan Submitted page on Pirate101.com!
Later in the month, around the 27th, there was a crowns shop sale!
Also, on the 29th, the final Puppet Pirates caption was chosen! Check it out here!
On the last day of November, KingsIsle released a ton of new gift cards at different stores! They’re all here!

Also, there have been a couple minor updates on my blog. I’ve updated the header(s) and added falling snow! The holiday features will go away on January 4th (thereabouts). I’m also debating a holiday background change. Thanks for reading!
Santo Pollo Ahoy!
Santo Pollo, ahoy! After doing, like, what, three dungeons? Two? Five bosses? Four? Who knows… I had to do a whole lot of hard fights, and died a lot. Well, after all that hard work, I got to Hidden Valley Ranch. …Whoa there, Hidden Valley Ranch? Like this???
No, no, no. Not like that. Like this…
Yes, yes, yes. Like that. That, was a hard dungeon to solo. Kind of a teleport-back-six-times-hard dungeon. Anyway, after beating up some cheese, (seriously, one of the bosses was Monterrey Jack), I headed back to Merriweather Clark’s home. There was a Red Sash surprise waiting for me! I defeated Johnny Ringo- not too hard- and then talked to Clark. He told me that he would let me know where his father’s piece of Marco Pollo’s map was, since I had saved his life… Twice. Merriweather… Seriously? Another dungeon? Whatever. I went over to the Scorpion Rock Cave to find the map, only to find it’s missing. Things are always missing. There was a note from Captain Blood. Who is this Captain Blood? Let Mr. Argleston explain.
Well then. That didn’t really help much, did it? Captain Blood is a pirate, obviously, and is infamous, obviously. To find him, I need the help of El Toro.
That El Toro. Who is El Toro? Let TheDeathshard‘s video explain.
Here’s a quote from a previous post (on this blog, of course.)
El Toro, the mysterious masked champion of Cool Ranch. Saving the innocent from evil such as the Banditoads, El Toro is a legend. He was almost never seen though. All we know is that he leaves a mark “T.” I am now defending the townsfolk so that I may get El Toro’s attention and get *that* much closer to getting the map. Here’s a quote from Pirate101.com just to sum up a little snippet of the Cool Ranch storyline.
Cool Ranch is a land of legendary figures: heroes like the Chicken Rangers, Wild Bill Peacock, and the masked hero El Toro, fighting lawlessness and standing up for the humble settlers; but the wild frontier has also fostered terrible outlaws like Libirdy Valence, El Guapo, and the dreaded Duck With No Name. Smugglers and pirates have always been drawn to Cool Ranch – far from everyplace, the dusty realm is an ideal place to hide.
But other than that, who is El Toro even supposed to be, other than the protector of Santo Pollo? KingsIsle made a play on words from Zorro, check it out- HERE
See the resemblance? Well anyway I thought it was cool how they can sneak things in like that (ex: Hidden Valley Ranch, El Toro, etc). Now, in Santo Pollo, I have to try and catch the attention of El Toro by doing favors for the townsfolk. My first mission? Collect sugar. I guess… It’s a start. Well, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll start fighting some Banditoads.
New Pictures!
KingsIsle has released some new Pirate101 images on Pirate101 Central! The thread is here. Also, they’re posted with very nice analyses on Swordroll’s blog. The particular post is here. There’s not much else to post about Pirate101, but I’ll keep trying my best.
In this picture, it shows the tutorial, at the very beginning. Boochbeard is to Ambrose as Gandry is to Gamma.
After you’ve left there, they’ll send you on a ship. You fly/sail to Skull Island. Gandry is telling you what to do.
After you get to Skull Island, you can get to Avery’s office. “One-Eyed Jack” posted two similar pictures of these on Central.
Last is the Character page of what would be, in Wizard101, your Spellbook.
Also, I have a quote from One-Eyed Jack. Remember, this is an exact quote. I did not write this.
Heya Pirate101 fans! It’s fun to see you all guessing at things from this screen capture. I don’t want to stop the fun, but I also just want to say that you’re looking at an Alpha product of the Pirate101 game. I think you’ll find the final UI a little different when playing the actual game . . . in fact, I was just at the interface designer’s desk a few minutes ago, and he had a giant folder full of old screenshots of the different generations of the interface. It’s amazing to see how much it has progressed and how it is changing all the time while the game is still being designed. I got permission to post a few screenshots of the game to show you how the interface is looking these days. It’s almost finished and there could be further tweaks, but check ’em out! Have fun with these!
So basically, the UI (User interface) might change, and probably will look a lot different before Pirate101 is released to everyone.
Extra Game Info
I’ve been searching everywhere to get information for this blog. Unfortunately, there’s not much I can do about that. There’s been a picture J Todd Coleman released on the Pirate101 Facebook, and it’s pretty intriguing. It references the game quiz, as in Wizard101, when you chose your school. This one has a question which you answer, “Yar!” or “Nar!” I like that. 😉
Again, the “Yar!” and “Nar!” are very creative. You can also notice that this is sort of a courage question (candy sails), and won’t be something a Buccaneer would say “Yar!” to. Hopefully, we’ll get more of these questions. Please comment your analysis, or what could be more questions! I really like it when people comment, and it would help me make improvements to the blog. Comment whenever you can!
I’ve been reading some other blogs, and they’re filled with fun stuff. I just am trying as hard as I can to bring this stuff to PitS. If you notice and subscribe to KingsIsle on YouTube, they’ve released a new video on Pirate101, with a few sneak peeks. It features DadLabs, who visit KingsIsle in this video. Enjoy!
I watched this video, and found it much more intresting than I expected. It’s full of good stuff! At about 1:01 you get a little bit of gameplay. It’s mostly like Wizard101, with some setting and character differences. The companions (Pets in W101) are much larger. The top of the screen is completely empty, but the bottom is much more crowded. Not much else is different. There’s even Quest Helper! (Probably mission/task helper in P101)
I’ve also not mentioned this on the blog, and would like to. This is the only [official] podcast for Pirate101, and I’ve heard it’s very good. KingsIsle thinks that too, because they put it on their official fansites page! Pieces of Eight Radio is listened to by many, and is a great step into the Pirate101 community.
There’s more (and even more coming) places to check out if you want extra game info. If you’re looking for official, go to the Pirate101 website and go to the official fansites page. Or click here. This blog will hopefully be there someday; and check out Pirate101 Central for some more blogs. I have some links in my Community post to other blogs/fansites. If you also want this blog to be official, please please comment with suggestions. I will make this as good as I can! Thank you for reading this post!
Community

This post will be about what’s going on right now in the Pirate101 community. I might include some small updates about pirate101.com. Also, some other blogs might be referenced. Thanks for reading this post! (Sorry that I keep delaying my posts- I’m gonna try and do at least 3/4 a week now)
The pirate101 community is already off to an awesome start, and will just get better and better. Great blogs and fansites have already been set up, and more will just keep showing up.
If you were into the wizard101 community, you would know about the Friendly Necromancer. Well Friendly here just got a job at KingsIsle as Pirate101’s community manager. He’ll decide what to do, and if there’ll be “Featured Blogs” or anything. Pirate101 has really started up some great stuff, and we’ll have to see what happens about Pirate101’s community page. EDIT: Official Fan Sites and Blogs have appeared on the Community page!!!
Friendly’s blog is here. He’s also going to have a Pirate101 blog, The Friendly Witchdoctor!
Pirate101 Central- This is a great fansite, if you ask me. It was quickly set up almost immediately after Pirate101’s announcement, an is a great way for players to voice their opinion and ask questions on almost any topic. People have already got things in the swing there, and I’d you want to join, there’s almost step-by-step on the website! Just hit Register on P101C. Again, this fansite hit the ground running and is a really great one. I recommend you check it out.
Swordroll’s Pirate101 Blog- This blog, like TFN, also has a Wizard101 blog- Swordroll’s blog. I’m not sure if he’ll keep SP101B going, or will just transfer over to SB. Other than that, this is a really nice and aesthetically pleasing blog. It has some pretty cool information, and is a good one to look at if you’re trying to start a new Pirate101, or even Wizard101, blog. The link to his blog is here.
The Siren’s Call- This is a very laid-back blog, and is a great one if you like fun facts as well. It’s author also owned a previous blog, Homework in a Graveyard. This blog was very popular, and so is TSC. Check it out here!
Pirate101 Central Hosted Blogs- Since P101C is so awesome, they even let people post their own blogs on their website. Go check it out for yourself, there’s got to be something you like there. Get to them here. Guess what? They even have a place for you to put your own blogs! Check out new and old pirate blogs here.
Pirates of the Spiral- I just realized how close the name of this blog is to mine. Oh well. Johnny is well-known from Central (both) and decided to take up a blog. I think this one is really good, and has a ton of facts about Pirate101. Again, I really like it, and you can go to it here.
I’ve listed only a couple of the Pirate101 blogs springing up all over the place. There’s going to be official fansites on Pirate101.com soon, actually everything is set up but blogs, and I hope to earn a spot! Again, check out Pirate101 Central linked blogs to find many more of them. If you want your blog posted specifically above, comment on this post (and leave a link) and I’ll check it out and put it up there as soon as possible! Thanks for your support on my blog!
