Journey to Marleybone (Pt.1: Port Regal)
You know how I was in Port Regal, right? Well, I’m still in Port Regal. I don’t like having to defeat 10 Marleybone ships. It’s tedious and they always gang up on me. Grr… After I finally finished defeating those ships, I reported back to Catbeard.
He told me that Marleybone was annoyed, but that we need them furious. He told me that taking the governor’s daughter would anger Marleybone. To get to Mabel, I needed to break in to the Governor’s Mansion. I flew over to Port Regal to learn how from Gilbert and Sullivan. They told me about a secret entrance around the side of the house, and that I would be able to go through the sewer and get to the cellar. Why are us pirates always going through cellars? 😉
I fought an admiral down in the sewer (why was he down there?) and then headed up into the secret entrance. The house was actually quite pretty, and no one seemed to notice me in there.
Main entrance, but I came out of the kitchen. Figures.
Upstairs balcony. Is it just me, or does that painting on the right seem like it could be a potential tapestry/painting teleporter to Wolfminster Abbey? After I brought Mabel back to Catbeard, apparently he was satisfied… With Marleybone. Now I had to “do the same thing to the Armada.” To be continued in Journey to Marleybone Part 2: Saving Sally!
How To: Make Your Blog Glow!
So, in this post, I’m going to have a short tutorial about how you can start editing images with the GNU Image Manipulation Program, or GIMP, for short. I believe this only works for Windows. Sorry!
1. First, you’ll need to download GIMP. When you open it up, screen that looks like this or similar to this. P.S. We’ll be practicing “glowing” with a glowing P101 symbol! 😀
2. If it’s all separate windows and you want to combine them like shown above, navigate to one of the upper menus (File, Edit, Select, etc) and choose Windows ➜ Single-Window Mode. (Picture)
3. Now all the windows will be connected together. In my opinion, it’s easier to manage that way. But now, to make your first picture! Go to File ➜ New to make your first image. It will ask you what the dimensions you want are. For what we’re doing, you should make a 400 x 400 pixel image. (Picture)
4. Make sure those three values are correct. You should get a square white screen, which is perfect! This is your canvas. Go to this link then right click and press Copy image. (Picture)
5. Go back to GIMP and go to Edit ➜ Paste or press Ctrl + V on the keyboard to paste on the P101 symbol. It should be right in the center. (Picture)
6. This looks kind of bad, doesn’t it? Don’t worry, we’re not done. Go to the Layers tab on the right side of your screen, and right click the “Floating Selection.” Choose “To New Layer.” (Picture)
7. If you don’t know what “layers tab” I’m talking about on the right, do this. (Picture)
8. Then it will appear on the right side of your screen, and follow the instructions above. Now, since the P101 symbol is on its own layer, you can get rid of that ugly black part. Choose “Select By Color” on the left; (Picture)
9. Then click on the black, it will select it all. Press Delete on your keyboard and it will remove all of the ugly black stuff. Then go to Select ➜ None. Then go back to your handy Layers widget and right click the “Pasted Layer” then press “Alpha To Selection.” This will select all of the Pirate101 logo. (Picture)
10. Now, create a new layer by going to Layer ➜ New Layer. Name this layer “Glow.” Leave everything else how it is. (Picture)
11. After that, go to Select ➜ Grow, then increase the selection by 2. This is so the glow will go outside of the symbol. (Picture)
12. Then pick any color… (Picture)
13. …And use the fill tool to fill in the area you selected. (Fill tool found in top left toolbox.) Now use the Select ➜ None from step 9 and your picture should look like this. (Picture) If it doesn’t, go back and revise the other steps. We’re not done!
14. Go to Filters ➜ Blur ➜ Gaussian Blur and make sure the numbers are “linked”. (Picture) Fill them in with anything you want, the bigger the number, the bigger the glow. Here’s your end product! (File ➜ EXPORT)
Sorry about the white dots around the edges of the “P101”! I did not upload the original image. You can use this glow technique with almost anything! You can even use it with black to make it look like shadow. Have fun with it!
English Bill
Yeah… That’s not what I thought of when I heard “English Bill” either. Maybe it would help if I also explained he is the Duck of Death. Now, after quite a lot of questing in Cool Ranch, I headed over to Boot Hill. (I’ll tell you, that’s not where you want to go for a vacation.)
You have to fight the Duck of Death two times, once on Boot Hill and once on his ship. The first fight is a bit tricky, though me and my friend smashed him to the ground straight away (by pure luck). First, you must interact, or attack, a Basin so you can be Blessed. To indicate you are blessed, halos appear over your entire team. A Basin is a statue with water in the top. There are two Basins in the battle. Once your team has halos, you are free to kill the Duck of Death.
You do have to kill him twice. This is his… uh… I called it a ship, right? This fight there are no Basins, so you are free to attack the Duck as soon as you want. Once you’ve finished that fight, you talk to Tonka, the whole reason you were here in the first place. English Bill had captured Tonka, but now he is freed. Finally, once you’ve finished all of that… You get a badge!
Hooray! Duke of Ducks! Thanks for reading!

How To: Start Pirate101 PvP!
Start Pirate101 PvP!
So you’ve all heard about Pirate101’s basic PvP on the test realm. No? Check it out here. It’s like Wizard101’s practice PvP. Now how do you get started? If you own the Cutthroat Bundle’s Castaway Island or the Boochbeard Bundle’s Volcano Island, then you can look for 1v1 PvP sigils in your house!
Equip your best gear, and you’re ready to go! Press “X” on one of the sigils and you will pick which team you are on.
After you’ve joined a team, you go to the respective sigil.
Then when someone else joins, the timer counts down and the battle begins! You can also duel in two Skull Island rooms, the “Brawlin’ Hall” and the “Spar Chamber”. They are in the shopping area of Skull Island. These fights count as “Epic Battles”, so you get to pick all your companions!
These are 4v4 dueling rooms, so the battles get even more intense!
You can have 1v1, 1v2, 2v2, 2v3, etc just like in the Massive Fantasy Palace (Wizard101). Note that you do not get any “rewards” from these battles, they are just for fun right now! Also, only one team plans at a time in the battles. When the other team is planning, you’ll get this message at the bottom of the greyed-out battle board;
And those are the basics! Log onto Pirate101 Test Realm if you’re a member, and get fighting! I also may have an advanced tutorial with video in the future.

Now that November’s over, we’re getting ready for the holiday season! Here’s a peek at everything that happened this month in Pirate101.
At the beginning of the month, on November 2nd, the Pirate101 monthly newsletter started! Speaking of the newsletter, there’s a new edition, you can go check it out here!

On November 9th, Veteran’s Day, KingsIsle gave out a very special medal display case to honor those who have served the country. Pirate101 Fan Art was also updated with all new submissions!

Darkmoor, Here I Come!
Yes, onto the next world of Pirate101! I guess I’m finished with Cool Ranch…
EL TORO! Sorry. Anyway, what do I mean by Darkmoor? I mean… this!
Yes, there’s Darkmoor ships. Sorry I’m behind in the storyline, I need to start up in Pirate101 again. Well this again leads us back to the question; is KingsIsle going to add Darkmoor? I just moored it over when I was fighting these ships. (See what I did there?) So just to clarify, I’m not really in Darkmoor, but I fought some ships. I’ve finished Santo Pollo, and don’t really know where I am in Cool Ranch right now. Sorry for the short post, it was just a storyline refresh from me! 🙂
Welcome to Valencia! Again…
I’ve quested right up to Valencia on Pirate101! After a good who-knows-how-much, it seems like it’s worth it. I’m disappointed that Valencia was such a short world, because it’s my favorite! I love how the skyways look with the emerald stormy skies, and the neon colors of the windlanes.
After fighting countless numbers of ships to get papers, get permission, get blah blah blah blah blah blah blah… I finally headed through the stormgate. I let my Scarakeet steer (bad idea) but I made it to Valencia. I took notice of a suspicious floating world though…
See it? Now don’t you think that’s Darkmoor? Who knows. Maybe it was once Aquila, but has now been abandoned for so long, they renamed it Darkmoor and some humans inhabited it and that’s where Vadima came from? Who knows! Because I’ve seen an awful lot of signs of Aquila… And none of Darkmoor… So far.
There’s stormgates to Aquila in BOTH worlds. Cool! I haven’t got many quests finished in Valencia, but it’s really nice to see the Machine again. 😀 Maybe we’ll return to Valencia in search of Darkmoor, Aquila, Polaris, who knows? Have fun questing, and see you in the Skyways!
All finished!
Header and background are finished! Hope you like them! I may be tweaking them a little, but for the most part, they’re done! Enjoy!
It is Decided! (Also, Feature on MooShu!)
I have finally decided for my posts that I will try to do guides, updates to the Pirate101 game, or the Pirate101 website on the weekdays since I will not usually have access to Pirate101 until the weekends. But during the weekends I will try to write as many gameplay posts as I can and shoot lots of videos to post on the blog! Today’s post is: Spotlight on MooShu!
This post will be relatively brief, since many of you will have received a notice email from KingsIsle that said they added a MooShu section to the P101 site. Since I haven’t quested to MooShu in-game, I’ll have to tell you what I’ve heard of it. (…And of course what KI tells us! 🙂 )
After you’ve flown into the beautiful docks of MooShu, the last world in the current Pirate101 game, you’ll see the setting sun, the rose skies, and mountains galore. This
world has been re-elaborated at KingsIsle, and it is brilliant.
MooShu is ruled by the Emperor, who is considered the Child of the Spirit of the Sun, and is served by legions of loyal Samoorai. The Cows of MooShu form the ruling class made up warriors, princes and master artisans. They are attended by Goat bureaucrats and ministers, while the Sheep and Pig peasants humbly work the land. The people of MooShu are notoriously secretive and suspicious of outsiders; foreign ships are only allowed to dock in one port, the resplendent city of Hamamitsu, without special permission, and only the mysterious Wizards have ever walked in the Imperial Skyway or visited the Imperial Palace.
MooShu is filled with spiritual action, down to the Moodha itself. But once the Emperor was cursed with dark magic, the entire realm has fallen into havoc. The bandits lying around the edges of the world began to thrive, taking prey on the poor townsfolk. The Samoorai try their hardest to protect the defenseless, but the Ninja Pigs and Yazookas seem to be getting stronger and stronger, and the outlook of the world overall and the emperor is getting worse and worse. Pirates are adventuring this world in its damaged state to gain profit from the damaged land.
